Rare Collection (9) Early American Pottery Bowls Mississippian Native

Here is a rare opportunity to own a nice collection of Early Native American pottery. Here is a lot of (9) pieces, being offered all together. I am sorry that I don't know much about the collection other than some basic information - any details from an astute eBayer is much welcomed. However, I did take a whole lot of photographs for you to see all the angles, insides, bottoms, and small detail. If you press on this link "see more photos" you will get all the photographs. I did include some of the pictures below. Looking at the top picture, I will give you the details of what I know, from left to right - bottom row first. Here is a early bowl (#1). Measures 7-1/4" in diameter along the top. It is around 3-1/2" high. Has an old label on it that says "COOKING POT OCK."Has some cracks and chips, with one notable repair along the top edge. The next (#2) is a small Child's Bowl - marked on the bottom "CHILDS - Mississippi Co. Ark." This has unique little detail engravings head and tail, and around the top edge. Measures 3-1/4" in diameter, and about 1-1/4" in height. Great overall condition on this piece. The next (#3) is a nice shaped jar. Measures 4-1/2" in height and the top has a diameter of 3-1/4, 5" in the middle. Found a piece of paper on the inside that says; "Mound Builder Cross Co. 1900 Ark. St Francis RW..." Looks like a repair on one side and some chips along the top. The rest seems good. I do notice a washed out red marker on one side. I can't make out anything except again "ARK". The next along the bottom (#4) is a small child's bowl, measuring 3-5/8" in diameter and approx. 1-3/4" high. Has some chips along the top rim. No other breaks or cracks. The next piece is very interesting (#5). It is a mid-sized bowl with "bird" handle. It measures 6-1/2" in diameter and is about 3-1/2" high. Has some writing on the outside "SCIOTO CO. OHIO, Early Middle Woodland 1000 A.D. to 1700 A.D. .. R.M. Parker Coll." Also a paper label inside "Scioto Co. Ohio Early Middle Woodland Hopewellian, 1 A.D. to 500 A.D." The bowl handle or top decoration was repaired back onto the bowl. Chips around the top edge. Some kind of tooth was found in the bowl. The Next Bowl (#6) is a neat little bowl with decoration. Measures 3-3/4 in diameter, and 2-1/2" high. Has two little handles. and other various designs on the sides. A crack may have been repaired, but I don't know for sure. Looks to be in very good condition overall.

Now to the top row: (#7) is a Incised jar. Kind of reddish in color, this jar measures 6-1/2" high with a top diameter of 7"/ Has the decoration on the sides as pictured. Found a piece of paper on the inside discussing 'Foster Trailed-Incised Pottery from Red River Valley to Belcher Site near Shreveport. Bowie County Texas, and other counties in Ark.' Rather thin and fragile, I see a crack going vertical about 1 inch on one side. Also, I am guessing that this jar has had a professional crack repair up one side about 2-3". The next is a beautiful bowl (#8). It is the largest of the group with a top diameter of 10-1/4" and a height of 6-1/2". The bowl has great color. It appears to have many repairs. As I see different color clay, and one large crack repair. It is also inscribed on one side; " VERY EARLY FORT ANCIENT HUNTINGDON , WVA, ABOUT 900 A.D....E.M. Parker Collection" A great piece. The final piece (#9) is a beautuful early jar that appears to be in good condition for its age. It measures roughly 6" high and a middle diameter of 6-1/4 (top 4-3/4" across). Decoration on the sides. Some chips along the top edge. I don't see any breaks or cracks.

Please note that I have a small reserve on these rare pieces and if that is not met I will separate and offer them individually. Also, because of their fragile nature I will wrap in two boxes and insure them for their full value - the the shipping reflects those costs. Please let me know if you have any questions, as I will try and answer the best I can. Thanks. Buyer pays shipping (Insurance is included in the shipping and handling fees for items over $300).
