Scarce Lionel Set # 463W 1945 Freight Set w/ 224 2466W 2458 2755 PLUS DAKOTApaul

What a great find. Imagine being the first kid on your block to get this Lionel Train Set right after the company reopens for business after WWII. This is only a partial "O" Gauge Freight Set No. 463W that Lionel made in 1945, the very first post-war set. This includes the No. 224 Diecast Steam Engine, the No. 2466W Whistle Tender, the No. 2452 Pennsylvania Gondola, the No. 2458 Pennsylvania Double Door Automobile Box Car, the No. 2755 Sunoco Tank Car, but is missing the No. 2457 Pennsylvania Illuminated Caboose. Also, it includes some of the individual boxes, a No. 167 Whistle Controller, an RCS box (with track), and some other peripherals as seen in all the pictures below (and please click the link above to view ALL the photos before bidding). 

In 1945 the engine had the blackened handrails, square cab floor and long drawbar. The rare Tender also had the blackened handrails in the rear. All freights had the Flying Shoe Couplers with the black fiber board. Overall, this set is in very good original condition - as viewed in the many pictures below. And, if you click the link above you can view over 50 pictures of this wonderful set. The engine overall is in nice condition. Some small specs of a paint spray that I see on the shell. It runs in forward and reverse but like all early Lionel trains it should have a nice cleaning and lube to run perfectly. The tender is also very nice for this early piece. No breaks or cracks to the shell. Does show some paint wear on the sides. I did not get power to the tender when tested, so I am not sure of its whistle. The freights are in varying condition as the many pictures detail. The 2458 is a really nice car in excellent condition with a wonderful box with all flaps. One end of a catwalk is a little bent. But overall a nice car. The Tank car has some decal issues. One side better than the other. Typical of this car. The box has no insert and wear as pictured. The gondola came with one truck that is not flying shoe. Some marks on one side of the shell. The box has an original insert. The set comes with all the other items as pictured.
