Rare 1937 Lionel 700E 4-6-4 Scale Hudson w/ 700T Tender NO RESERVE (DP)
In my opinion, here is the ultimate Lionel prewar "O" gauge Steam Engine. Mention the New York Central Railroad's "Hudson" locomotive 5344, and most collectors think of this train. Here is the 1937 version of the Lionel No. 700E Locomotive with its 700W Tender. Serial Number 01 1763. Black zinc ally die-cast superstructure, nickel plates, rubber stamped "5344" below the windows and on the headlight. 14-1/8". NEW YORK CENTRAL on the tender.
Condition on the engine is very good - as seen in the many pictures below (and please click the link above to view ALL the photographs before bidding). This was put on a test track and it ran in forward and reverse. Graphics are in excellent condition. Some minor wear to the shell, but overall it looks pretty good. Replaced coupler pin. I believe the tender shell is a Madison replacement that looks real nice. No whistle in the tender. Someone put on a box coupler rather than the scale coupler, but that should be easy to replace. Pictures tell the story on this rare train (again please click on the link above to see all the pictures before bidding). Don't miss this unique train - sure to be the focus of any collection. Also, offering a nice set of Pride Lines Rail Chief Cars separately (see bottom picture for the group - this auction is for the Engine and Tender only). Offering in AUCTION format (support the auction format!) with NO RESERVE. Buyer pays shipping (Insurance is included in the shipping and handling fees for a final value estimate of $3000 - that is why the shipping is high - please note that fact). Please check out my other items currently listed, and save on shipping. NO RESERVE.
