Lionel #2217WS 682 Turbine 1954 Freight Set 6464-175 2046W +BOXES (DAKOTApaul)

This is the No. 2217WS Freight Set that Lionel made in 1954. This Set includes the No. 682 Diecast Steam Turbine with Headlight, Smoke and Magnetraction, the No. 2046W Pennsylvania Whistle Tender, the No. 6464-175 Silver Rock Island Box Car, the No. 6356 NYC Cattle Car, the No. 3562-25 Gray Blue Lettering Operating Barrel Car and the No. 6417 Pennsylvania N5C Caboose. Includes all individual BOXES, a UCS, and the rare SET BOX. All that is pictured in the many pictures (please click the link above to view over 50 pictures of this set).

Some notes to help with your assessment of the condition. The 682 Engine is in excellent - all original - condition, including the white detail on the side rails. The engine needs a serious lube and cleaning to run properly. The engine box has some issues. Includes its original insert, but one end is covered in masking tape, the other flap is in half. The tender looks very nice, however, I did notice that there is a small chip off of one back step. No other breaks or cracks. Whistles well. Its box is brick like, in get shape. The "Route of the Rockets" 6464-175 car is in very good shape. A few minor rubs and some aging to the silver. Has the correct crossed-out 6464-50 stamped "silver" box, however, one of the end flaps is a replacement, and it has some black marks on one side as pictured. A beautiful NYC Stock car and box - like new. The 3562 Barrel car is missing its little man on top. No box for the barrels. Clean car in nice shape. The Caboose is like new along with its box. The UCS has brittle wires. The Set Box is a nice one. Nice and square, firm, and complete.
