Ives Lionel Special 23 Transitional Set 257 257T 1690 1691 Cars OBHere is a fairly hard to find set of Ives prewar Trains - Set Special 23. This is an Ives/Lionel Transitional Engine - made in 1930-32. This set consists of an Ives "O" gauge 257 loco with its 257T tender. Both have their original BOXES. The engine will pull (2) No. 1690 Lithographed Pullman passenger cars, and a No.1691 Observation car. The Passenger Cars also have their original boxes. Size of the loco is 8-1/4" and the tender 5-1/2" not including the couplers. Condition is very good - as seen in the pictures below. Engine has some age spots and will need to be re-wheeled. Tender has some tape residue on the both sides. Passenger Cars are in good shape. some sticky paper stuck to the roofs, also some of the cars are missing their hadrails (see pics). All the boxes have several flaps that have been repaired and some missing flaps. They are in average shape. We only have the top to the set box. Overall a gret looking set.
